Obituary

Marlys Mae (Schumacher) Hysell was born in Ipswich SD on February 19, 1953 to Milbert and Edna (Geist) Schumacher.  She grew up in Roscoe, SD and graduated from Roscoe High School in 1971, then attended Lake Area Tech in Watertown, SD.  She married, had two daughters, then later divorced.   She worked at Donnie’s restaurant & bar until it was sold and became Prairie Rose Restaurant and Bar.  In 1986, she married Dennis Hysell.   She then became a stay-at-home parent to her 3 children: Trisha, Tiffany and Brandon.

Marlys passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD, with her 3 children by her side.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis; Her 3 children: Trisha (Travis), Tiffany (Matt), and Brandon; and grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Dylan (Tiffany Haider), Carson, Claire, Kadence and Aubrianna.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Milbert and Edna Schumacher, grandparents Leo and Pauline (Aman) Geist and her brother, Ron Schumacher.

A private burial and committal service will be held at Morningside Cemetery, Roscoe, on a later date.
