November 26, 1949 — October 24, 2009

Raymond Leon Colson, 59, of Ipswich, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at his residence.

His memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009, at First Baptist Church, 305 Main Street, in Ipswich. Raymond's family will take his remains to the mountains at a later date.

Family and friends may gather at the church beginning at 9:30 on Saturday.

Raymond was born November 26, 1949 to Harry and Dolores (Toney) Colson at Arvada, CO. He was raised and attended school in Arvada.

Following his schooling he joined the United States Marine Corp. Upon the completion of his tour of duty, he returned to Arvada and went to work for a construction company transporting materials for the building of the telephone network in Wyoming where he met Rosetta Morrow.

The two were married on April 6, 1980 in Newcastle, WY. Nine months after their marriage, the two moved to Gillette, WY where Raymond worked on a ranch. They remained there for fourteen years before moving to Rozet, WY for a short time.

They moved to a home in Ipswich in November of 1998 where Raymond went to work for North Central Farmers Elevator. Shortly after their move, Raymond was injured at work. These injuries forced his retirement in 1999.

Raymond enjoyed watching Westerns, riding horses, hunting and especially visiting with others and sharing his many stories. Raymond's door was open to anyone. As a result, he and Rosetta, have a large "adopted" family all across the country.

He was a member of the Pony Express and had participated in Pony Express relays and reenactments while the family lived in Wyoming.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Rosetta; mother, Dolores of Thornton, CO; son, Billy Dale Tanner of Peyton, CO; daughters, Carmel Gail (Ed) Brantz of Casper, WY and Tina Lee Colson; sisters Rhonda (Eugene) Hogan of Denver, CO and Rosanna "Bingo" (Eric) Janzer of Arvada, CO, four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three nephews and many "adopted" children and grandchildren.

His father and grandparents preceded him in death.
