The funeral service for Archie M. Mulder, 67, of Roscoe, is 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Gramm Funeral Home in Ipswich. Dr. Jennifer Turick will lead the service. Burial will follow the service at Morningside Cemetery in Roscoe.
In honoring Archie's wishes there will be closed casket visitation for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home Thursday.
Archie was born March 8, 1945 to George and Lillian (Maier) Mulder on the family farm east of Hosmer, SD. He was raised on the farm and attended country school.
Archie's parents both died while he was just a young man so he and his sister Lucille continued to operate the farm. He lived a simple and unassuming life, finding joy in watching things grow. Archie was a peaceful, caring man who put the needs of others before his own and had even requested that any memorials that are given in his memory be directed to help poor people.
His sister lost her life in a car accident in 2001. Archie moved to Roscoe and brought with him his simple lifestyle. He even maintained a garden behind the apartments in which he lived.
Archie enjoyed visiting with friends and with family. He would always return any kindness shown him with baked goods or other treats.
Archie died Sunday, May 27, 2012 at his residence in Roscoe.
He is survived by one aunt, Emma Nehlich of Ipswich and many cousins.
His parents, sister, Lucille, and an infant sister, Frances, preceded him in death.
Memorials are preferred.
